The BSc (Hons) Business Computing and Information Systems Degree is delivered onlineby NCC Education,validated and awarded by the University of Central Lancashire (abbreviated UCLan).

This programme equips students with a blend of technical IT skills and business expertise which prepares them for careers in senior management roles. The programme modules are designed to provide students with the fundamental skills and knowledge required by employers in the IT sector.

Upon successful completion of the degree, students are invited to attend their graduation ceremony at Preston Guild Hall in the UK.

This module aims to build upon the student’s general understanding of database systems, ensuring that the student develops significant knowledge of the major topics (both theoretical and practical) pertinent to the development and management of modern database systems. The module also introduces current perspectives in database management systems, thereby increasing the student’s understanding of future trends and the latest developments in the field.

Module Descriptor:
This module aims to build upon the student’s general understanding of networking, ensuring that the student develops significant knowledge of the major topics pertinent to the management of telecommunications and computer networks for corporate systems. This includes network management, communications media and services, global availability and reliability, eCommerce and Internet services.

Module Descriptor:
This module aims to build upon the student’s general understanding of the Internet, ensuring that the student develops significant knowledge of the major topics (both commercial and technical) pertinent to the use of the Internet to conduct business electronically. This includes evaluating eBusiness projects for return on investment, the business environment and strategy for the formulation of eBusiness.

Module Descriptor:
This module aims to build upon the student’s general understanding of project management, ensuring that the student develops significant understanding and theoretical underpinning of different approaches to project management and the development of a rigorous attitude to quality in information systems development.The module also introduces current perspectives in the management of information systems projects, thereby increasing the student’s understanding of future trends and the latest
developments in the field.

Module Descriptor:
This module provides the opportunity for individual in depth study in a specialised area of information systems. It aims to develop in the student the ability to tackle, individually, a selected problem of suitable scale and complexity, and to develop the ability to present ideas in a series of written reports

The total cost for this course including all tuition and examinations is £4,500 when the full fee is paid up front.

A 20% discount is available for NCC Educational Level 5 Diploma holders and Informatics Advanced Diploma holders.

Academic Qualifications:

a) NCC Education Level 5 Diploma in Computing (L5DC)
b) NCC Education Level 5 Diploma in Business Information Technology (L5DBIT)
c) Informatics International Advanced Diploma in Computing
d) Informatics Advanced Diploma in Information Technology

Any qualification deemed to be comparable as approved by NCC Education and the University of Central Lancashire

Assessment Structure

Assessment through examination and coursework assignments. Students study five core modules (120 credits):
a) Advanced Database Management Systems
b) Corporate Communication Systems Management
c) eBusiness
d) Managing Information Systems Projects
e) Information Systems Project

Graduation Requirement

Upon completion of all modules, students will be eligible for the Bachelor of Science (Honors) Business Computing and Information Systems degree awarded by UCLan.

Progression Pathway

On completion of the Bsc (Hons) Business Computing and Information Systems Top-up Degree, graduates are eligible to apply for Postgraduate and Master’s degree study at institutions across the world.
