Informatics Academy Pte Ltd (IAPL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Informatics Education Ltd, is positioned as a flagship showcase for our school operations business. Based in Singapore, the school operates as a city campus in the bustling downtown Middle Road area.
One of the key strategies in moving the school to the heart of the city from our former campus at Jurong East has been to strengthen the part-time student business. Being within the city perimeter where a majority of our potential part-time students work, facilitates better time management for students, many of whom juggle work and studies. The centrally located city campus and its comprehensive variety of transportation options provide great convenience and time savings for students commuting to classes after work.
Since moving to the new downtown campus, our part-time student recruitment has doubled. In the coming year, we expect this part-time studies sector of the school operations business to continue growing at an accelerated pace.
The city campus also allows our International student population to better experience the metropolitan lifestyle that Singapore offers. Surrounded by major shopping centres and situated within five minutes’ walk of Bugis MRT, the Middle Road area is a major civic, arts and cultural hub of Singapore.
A Cross-Cultural Learning Experience
With a population of more than 1,500 local and international students from 26 countries, IAPL provides a platform for students to truly experience a vibrant cross-cultural learning environment. This is achieved through a series of social and enrichment activities organised throughout the year. These include workshops on grooming and etiquette, basic web publishing and resume writing, as well as industry trips to the Asia Pacific Brewery, and many more. By providing students a better understanding of the different customs and cultures, these activities inculcate the spirit of social tolerance that is evident within the community in Singapore.
Poised for Greater Growth
Apart from growing our international student recruitment network the traditional way, say, through education fairs, IAPL has established a parallel recruitment network by working directly with foreign universities and institutions. Through these institution-to-institution collaborations, IAPL is able to recruit students directly from these foreign universities or institutions at any stage of their tertiary studies. This network of collaborative universities and institutions is created via a system of articulations (or credit transfer), post graduation progression, faculty exchanges and running IAPL‘s programmes within the overseas universities and institutions. Through this system, students have the option of either completing their Diploma and/or Advanced Diploma with the universities or institutions in their home country before moving on to IAPL, or progressing to higher level programs at IAPL.
To date, IAPL has made collaborative agreements with a number of foreign universities and institutions in China, Vietnam, Korea and Myanmar. As a result, IAPL has experienced an increase in its international student recruitment numbers especially in its key programs such as Information Technology and Business Management.
A Smart City Campus
To complement the modern and high-tech society status that Singapore is so wellknown for, the city campus is fully-equipped with the latest learning and teaching equipment. The 46,000 square feet learning facilities include state-of-the-art classrooms and computer labs fitted with smart boards to provide a better learning experience for students and lecturers. Streaming support is also available for selected lectures to enable students to learn at their own time and pace.
A Mark of Quality
IAPL continues to hold the prestigious four-year EduTrust certification awarded by the Council for Private Education (CPE), a statutory board under the Singapore Ministry of Education. Successfully obtained in 2010, this voluntary certification scheme is given to Private Education Institutions that have achieved commendable performance in key areas of management and the provision of educational services. These include areas such as corporate governance, academic processes, quality support services, student fee protection and quality assurance system. This affirms our commitment to high quality standards in all aspects of our operations. With this certification, IAPL will continue to grow its international student population. |
